Shane has more than 45 years of corporate airline and related commercial experience gained internationally, in senior executive positions within Air New Zealand (Chief Financial Officer) and Fletcher Challenge (Group Investment Director). He has also gained extensive consulting experience from roles with Boston Consulting Group and PricewaterhouseCoopers with specialist expertise in corporate financing and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and aircraft leasing.

Strategy and Planning Manager during the regulatory review NZ Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. 1984-1987. Decisions came from deep first principles considerations. Consequently, we were exposed to a unique hands-on experience of planning and implementing fundamental reforms to government and industry operations.

2. Establishing businesses from the beginning and basic assets.

Planning and Marketing Manager for the establishment and successful transformation from a poor performing government department to a State owned enterprise charged with the commercial development of the State Coal mines. Involved deploying business planning procedures and strategic thinking, constructing an enterprise from a set of assets into an efficient and profitable commercial business. Farming Career:
1) Dairy and beef farming, 300 dairy cows and 700 bull beef at Karamea, West Coast
2) Established three herds of 750 dairy cows at Inniskillen, Culverdon, Canterbury.
3) Introduced new farming techniques including block grazing of dairy stock, overhead irrigation, intensive dairy bull beef raising, new fertilizer mixes, cost reduction methods.

Past: Deputy Chairman and Director of Karamea Dairy Company Ltd – milk processing into butter, milk powder and casein.

Atas Meat Company, helped establish a meat processing plant - Company director.

Held office at local, regional and national level in Federated Farmers.
